Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 7

 

Washing away the dirt with plenty of hot water, enjoying a warm meal, and reading a book under the light with a cup of hot water in hand.

Isn't that quite civilized?

By the way, today's menu consists of bread (stolen), bits of salted meat (stolen) rehydrated in hot water, and a soup with leafy greens (stolen) thrown in.

Additionally, shredded pumpkin (stolen) stir-fried with salt (stolen).

It would have been even better with some beer, but given my age, that wouldn't be a good idea. I'll save that for when I grow up.

I've been "borrowing" food from inns, restaurants, and warehouses, so I've had quite a variety. While there was a frying pan available, and I had made makeshift chopsticks myself, I lacked a proper knife, so up until now, I was just sprinkling salt on raw vegetables to eat them...

The first thing 【Shadow Sword】 ever cut was salted meat.

After that, I tried cutting vegetables...

Back when I first started living alone as a student, I once tried cutting a pumpkin, and the handle of my knife snapped.

Truly, in both attack power and defense power, pumpkins are among the strongest of the vegetable kingdom.

Yet this time, the pumpkin was sliced effortlessly—clean, smooth cuts with no resistance at all.

Without boiling it or microwaving it—just raw.

It was so amusing that I ended up shredding an entire pumpkin... Isn't this amazing?

Did I just acquire a powerful weapon at the very beginning of my adventure?

"Thanks for the meal!"

Now, even though I've only used 【Shadow Sword】 to cut food, I understand its power.

The Holy Coins gacha... this thing is the real deal.

Which means the other two unknown items must also be incredible.

Let's start by checking out 【Floating Orb】!

A black, translucent, hard, and heavy orb about the size of a basketball.

That's what it looks like.

I poke it, roll it around, but nothing happens.

I have no idea how to use it.

It's too heavy to be thrown.

Judging by the name, does it float?

【Shadow Sword】 just needed to be worn on my finger, but maybe 【Hideout】 required some kind of image in my mind?

An image of 【Floating Orb】… an image… an image…

"Float!"

That was the only thing that came to mind, so I placed my hand on it and shouted with all my might—

Thud!

The rapidly ascending 【Floating Orb】 slammed right into my chin.

"...So that's how it works, huh..."

As my consciousness faded, I idly thought, "Good thing the sofa was behind me," before collapsing.

Fwoosh, fwoosh, fwoosh...

This is fun.

Right now, I’m floating around the room on top of 【Floating Orb】.

It has been three days since I was knocked out cold by a direct hit to the chin.

Thanks to that, I’ve somewhat figured out how to use it, and through practice, I’ve gotten the hang of it.

If I touch it and mentally command "Float," it rises and moves exactly as I think.

Moreover, when riding on it, I don’t fall off even if I tilt sideways or go upside down. My hair and clothes don’t droop downward either.

Maybe 【Floating Orb】 has its own gravitational field?

Since I’m indoors, I don’t know its maximum height or speed, but I can tell there's plenty of maneuverability.

I can float up to the ceiling with ease, and it’s much faster than running.

At the same time, it can hover in place or move slowly.

A small but useful perk is that I no longer need to stand on a chair when reaching for things in the kitchen.

Controlling it feels a lot like piloting a remote-controlled helicopter.

As for 【Magic Steel】...

I only know that it’s a hard, heavy lump.

I tried touching it and mentally commanding it, hoping something would happen, but nothing did.

Maybe it’s just raw crafting material?

Either way, it’s too heavy to move, so I’ll leave it alone for now.

I've pretty much exhausted everything I can do inside 【Hideout】.

I still have plenty of food left, and I could stay holed up here for as long as I want.

Watching the church from the monitor, I noticed that while there were a lot of people even at night on the first and second days, it's now empty.

Luckily, it’s cloudy today, and the moon is hidden.

Maybe it’s time to step outside?

Dorororo "?!"  As I sighed and raised the Holy Coin, a sudden drum roll began to play. And then—the reel started spinning at an incredible speed. Before me were the director’s desk, a statue of a goddess or something behind it, and the wall. I instinctively rubbed both my eyes, but nothing changed.  It has been ten days since then. During that time, I tried various things and discovered a few things. First, regarding 【Hideout】 itself. To enter, you simply need to imagine opening a door on a flat surface like a wall or floor. The first time I activated it, I was lying down facing a wall, thinking about opening a door.
