The second basement floor of the Adventurers' Guild.

Standing in front of the dungeon entrance.

It feels surprisingly small.

It looks like stone, but probably isn't.

Since it extends deep inside, the dungeon itself might be made of the same material.

Yesterday, after being told about the dungeon expedition, I tried to research various things.

I tried, but…

Even after getting permission and rummaging through the archives, I couldn’t quite grasp everything. I’m aware that I’m still unfamiliar with the common knowledge of this world, but I couldn't tell whether my knowledge was simply lacking or if the information was just inherently difficult.

The few things I did learn were that monsters appear in dungeons, and you can obtain relics and Holy Coins.

In this Zelkis territory capital, the dungeon spawns demonic creatures such as goblins and kobolds.

…I said I understood, but in reality, I don’t really get it.

Even the information about monsters only covered the surface level.

There were also numbers recorded, but I had no idea what to compare them to, so I gave up.

The interior was noticeably more spacious than the entrance.

The floor, walls, and ceiling were all made of the same stone-like material as the entrance.

Despite there being no visible light sources, the entire passageway was dimly illuminated. That was another mystery.

"There! Goblins!"

Two small bipedal creatures appeared before us.

And just like that, both were crushed the moment they appeared.

Alec.

His full name is Alexio.

A towering man equipped with a mace in his right hand and 【Red Shield】 in his left.

He was born in a small kingdom somewhere in the western microstates and was the third son of a merchant family.

His name was derived from a famous general of that kingdom.

Although he received a decent education, as a third son, he had no inheritance prospects and was raised with a fair amount of freedom.

Perhaps influenced by his name, he admired knights and trained in swordsmanship, spearmanship, and horseback riding. At 14, he joined his family’s merchant caravan as a guard. Then, three years ago, he made a contract with Seriana and has been working as her personal guard and adventurer ever since.

First off, he’s tall.

Probably over 190 cm.

His weight must be around 100 kg, maybe even more.

He’s not a baseball player.

Not a rugby player either.

A swimmer, perhaps?

I struggled to think of someone with a similar physique, but of course, I would.

On Earth, people don’t undergo training designed for smashing living beings while carrying heavy weapons in both hands.

Come to think of it, the unit responsible for collecting Holy Coins had people who sent wolf-like magical beasts flying with spears.

…Terrifying.

After that, we encountered several more monsters, but Alec took them down instantly every time.

Seeing monsters and combat up close for the first time—any sense of wonder was completely overshadowed by sheer shock.

The goblins and kobolds weren’t particularly strong, but more than that, Alec was just overwhelmingly powerful.

What is this monster?

That being said, thanks to him, I could observe things calmly.

Maybe… I could handle this too?
