Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 5
"Mmm… So this one is a miss too…?"
I set aside the Holy Coins I had been offering to the goddess statue.
I thought the proper way was to dedicate the Holy Coins to the goddess statue, but was I wrong?
They all looked the same as the Holy Coins I had before, so I figured this should work…
I tried all 38, but nothing happened.
I could just let them sit until they became exchangeable, but having this many in one place feels like a waste to just leave them.
"Maybe it’s all about spirit…?"
I tried to recall how it was the first time—was I really fired up back then?
"Haaaahhhhhh!"
"Kieeeehhhhhh!"
"Chuaaaaahhh! … cough cough …"
I choked.
And still, nothing happened…
"Guess not…"
Pulling them felt random, but when the gacha activated, I wasn’t particularly fired up.
Which means…
"Is it about the number?"
2, 4, 6… 10!
Let’s go with a clean 10.
I grabbed one of the stacks of ten and offered it to the goddess statue.
"Oh…!?"
Was 10 the correct number? About a second later, a drumroll echoed in my head.
◇
"Last time, I was thinking about wanting a hideout, and I actually got one. So maybe it’s influenced by my thoughts? What would be good this time? Magic, maybe? Something super powerful!"
I stood up from the sofa, struck a pose with enthusiasm, and shouted:
"Come on!"
The drumroll turned into a fanfare, and words appeared in my mind.
"…Huh?"
The words were 【Floating Orb】.
What the heck is this supposed to be?
As I was trying to figure it out, something black appeared right in front of my face and then—
"Oh…? Wait, whoaaa!?"
Thud!
With a heavy sound, it crashed onto the floor.
I barely dodged it in time. Being barefoot, that could’ve been dangerous if it had hit me directly.
"…What is this?"
Catching my breath, I reached out to touch it.
It was about the size of a basketball.
A black sphere, hard and cold, but different from metal.
And heavy.
At least 10 kilograms? I could lift it, but I decided not to strain myself and rolled it to the corner instead.
It wasn’t quite what I had in mind, but I still had two more chances.
Let’s keep going.
"Something good, something good, something good…"
Chanting my wish, I offered the Holy Coins again. The drumroll played and then stopped immediately.
The words that appeared were 【Magic Steel】.
"…Hmmm?"
Another unknown item.
Learning from my mistake earlier, I took a step back and watched as a black, square object appeared and then—
Thud!
Another heavy impact as it hit the floor.
"…What the heck is this?"
It was a glossy black ingot, about the size of a brick.
When I tapped it, it made a metallic sound—clink clink—but it wasn’t iron or steel.
I wasn’t sure if materials like aluminum or duralumin existed in this world, but this was different from those as well.
It was called 【Magic Steel】, so I guessed it was some kind of fantasy material.
"Oh… it’s heavy."
I had no idea what it was, so I figured I’d just move on to the next draw. But trying to push it to the side, I realized—this thing was ridiculously heavy.
The orb from before was bad, but this was on another level.
Probably over 20 kilograms.
Might even weigh more than me…
"Huff… huff…"
I ended up sitting down and using my feet to push it into place.
Even though I dragged it across the floor, the wood wasn’t scratched at all.
Well, this whole room is basically a fantasy construct, so I guess that makes sense.
Anyway, I had 18 coins left, so I probably only had one more try.
So far, all I got were things I didn’t really understand.
If there was a common trait, it was that they were all heavy—but that probably wasn’t relevant.
"Something good, something good, something good…"
Chanting once more, I offered the Holy Coins again.
"Give me something good!"
As the drumroll echoed, I shouted with even more determination this time.
The words that appeared were 【Shadow Sword】.
Th-this is it! Something good!?
A sword! And something about "shadow"!
Now this—this has the scent of fantasy!
