Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 231
Sensing from my demeanor that someone had arrived, they each moved: first to stand in front of the door, then to the center of the room, and finally in front of me.
"Can you tell how many people there are?"
They had repeated this process numerous times since morning, yet showed no signs of fatigue. Though their specialty was guarding, it was still quite impressive.
"There are four soldiers. They're carrying something, probably luggage. They're walking this way."
"Understood."
After sharing this surface-level information, the women directed their gazes towards the door.
While I could provide more detailed information like the size of their physical and magical strength or the presence of magical tools, I couldn't gauge their skill level. Hence, I had decided to report only if there was something unusual.
Even if something happened, they were confident they could handle it. Meanwhile, I secretly made my own preparations.
Before long, there was a knock on the door.
"Enter."
The door opened, and the soldiers carrying the luggage came in. They had been here several times since morning.
"Thank you for your hard work. Could you place it over there again?"
A soldier, holding documents instead of luggage, straightened his posture sharply.
The luggage was placed on a long table in the room, but space was running out. Since these were gifts for Seriana, we couldn’t just put them on the floor. It would be bad if they got damaged from stacking them poorly, but they sure did take up a lot of space.
"Sure. Do you know if the senders are domestic or foreign? Please separate them accordingly."
"Understood. You three, get to it."
He instructed the other three and handed the documents to Teresa. I would sign them, but first, she would check them.
Given that she had all the main nobles and merchant associations’ information in her head, it was quite impressive.
"Oh...? It’s been a while since these were received. Was there a problem?"
She said this while comparing the documents to the clock in the room.
Could there have been an issue?
"Yes. Just before the start of the ceremony, entry to the castle was prohibited, so we had to wait. We could have hurried, but we couldn’t risk anything happening to the contents..."
"Oh, that’s right. Understood, that's fine."
"Understood."
Teresa took the documents and brought them over to me.
"Please take care of these."
"Alright."
The documents included the sender and recipient’s names, their affiliations, and the time they were received. There was also a brief description of the contents.
After confirming these, all I had to do was sign...
"Uh?"
Just as I was about to sign, I glanced sideways for a moment and my wrist was grabbed. Then, in an instant, I was pulled forward, my neck seized, and I was turned towards Teresa and the others.
"Don’t move!"
…Huh? Am I in trouble?
Though I hadn’t let my guard down, I was completely caught off guard.
"Ugh!"
Before I knew it, the hand gripping my neck let go, and pain shot through my shoulders with a loud crack. My shoulders were either broken or dislocated... it hurt like hell.
"You’re useless now. Don't try anything funny."
Useless... were they talking about the enchanted items?
On my fingers were the Shadow Sword and the Amber Sword. The Shadow Sword was hidden, so it must have been the Amber Sword. Since I was in formal attire today and wearing various items, they probably couldn’t tell which one it was, so they dealt with both.
Though I was bowed in pain, anger helped me manage to lift my head.
Looking ahead, the three soldiers who had entered with us had drawn their swords and were aiming at Teresa and the others in the royal guard. Were they in on this too? No, this wasn’t normal. Their tactics were good, but what did they plan to achieve with just four of them here?
Logically, they must have had some sort of plan. For instance, powerful magical tools, items, or skills.
But they weren’t wearing any magical tools or items. As for skills, I couldn’t tell, but it would be strange for the West to waste such valuable resources in this manner.
The three royal guards, unsure of what their opponents were planning, were unable to move. They were rightly cautious, as any sudden movement could result in my neck being snapped, but it was troublesome nonetheless.
If only the hand around my neck would let go, I could escape to the ceiling. Should I have forcibly escaped when my shoulders were first grabbed?
