Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 287
“It’s about time.”
Looking around, the remaining number of ogres has decreased to three.
Meanwhile, all the adventurers on our side are still standing.
“Forty minutes without the gatekeepers and bosses… that’s not too bad, right?”
“Yeah… Even though the bosses are out of reach, should we have the gatekeepers try soon? Considering the time, we should have two or three more tries, right?”
“We still have plenty of potions and energy left. Sounds good to me.”
With the battle in this hall seemingly over, the older guys are discussing the next fight.
It seems that even if their clans are different, adventurers who operate in the same town get along quite well, possibly because there are places like dungeons where non-combat is mandatory and resources are never depleted.
Even those without a clan or those who belong to one share a common awareness of nurturing the younger generation.
◇
When I was stopped in the depths of the upper levels, I was asked if I wanted to go to the middle levels together. The person who stopped me wanted to hear about Riana and the monsters of the Demon Realm from the younger adventurers as well.
Since it was only about ten minutes from that location, I agreed, and we headed over while chatting casually. But when we reached the entrance to the middle levels, there were two parties: one of veterans and one of younger adventurers, both similar to ours.
When I inquired about it, it turned out that they had come to observe the ogres, just like us.
I wondered why three parties had coincided, and upon asking, I learned that many groups were resuming hunting today. The reason was that if something went wrong, it would be easier to call for help since the group leaders were already there. It was a cautious yet somewhat unclear reason.
Later, since the older guys knew each other, the conversation progressed smoothly, and I was asked to join them. The reward was a generous offer of all the holy coins earned.
I thought it was a bit too much, but it seems the branch manager had been informed about the “Threads of Danrem” and was aware of it. They wanted the younger adventurers to experience a battle centered around powerful offensive magic, even if it was only simulated.
Given this, it’s true that powerful mages capable of such power are rare, and even if the outcome is uncertain, using holy coins as a cost is likely worth it.
I was told that if we took down the bosses, I wouldn’t need to fight. This way, I could hide Akame’s combat abilities and the “Shadow Sword,” and it would also be good training for me to fight alongside others. So, I decided to accept the request.
After all, practicing the “Threads of Danrem” outside would be risky and nearly impossible. A space segmented by rooms like this is quite valuable.
It’s almost been three hours, and so far, they’ve earned one holy coin. The younger adventurers seem to be at a level where they can hunt in the upper levels by themselves, so it might be about right.
Even so, a single holy coin is worth twenty gold coins, which is plenty even if divided among thirteen people. The moment it was revealed, there was a cheer, but then they remembered they needed to pay me, and it turned to disappointment. I’m sorry, but I couldn’t help but laugh.
By the way, I haven’t reported it because it’s unnecessary, but I have already obtained two holy coins on my own.
Sorry about that, younger adventurers.
◇
After repeating two more battles, we began our return.
We tried, but the younger adventurers couldn’t break through the gatekeepers by themselves, so the older guys ended up handling them. However, the way they dealt with it was impressive.
They coordinated their running speed while skillfully gathering stones against the wall, made a swift central breakthrough when they got close, and then, instead of focusing on a single target, the three of them each took out different enemies. It’s probably because they can fight one-on-one effectively, but I was impressed with how well they fought amidst the flying stones.
Now, as we all head back, the younger adventurers handle the monsters we encounter along the way.
…But now that I think about it, aren’t adventurers strong?
The veterans are naturally strong, but the younger ones are also quite impressive. I’ve had opportunities to see others fight before, but they were either extreme veterans or newcomers, so I hadn’t realized… Are humans really this strong?
“...Everyone is strong.”
“Hm? Well, you naturally become this strong when dealing with monsters. If you can’t do at least this much, you’d be dead by now.”
That was the response to my somewhat muttered words.
However… I can’t see myself becoming like that in the future… I feel like I’ll always remain weak.
