Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 315

The visibility isn't very far due to the lowered altitude, but as we approach Zelkis' territory capital, it becomes clear that a large number of people are lined up in front of the gates.

It's safer to move in groups, and since people tend to follow similar routes and schedules, the congestion is sometimes significant.

There are carriages carrying people and cargo mixed in as well, stretching out for over 100 meters.

"…Oh?"

"What's wrong?"

Teresa asked, noticing my muttering as we neared the gate and I spotted something.

"Do you see that?"

I pointed towards what I had noticed, and Teresa leaned in closer to look in the direction I indicated.

"That? …!?"

She seems to have noticed it too.

A few hundred meters to the right of the road, there's a forest. It's connected to the forest we hid in before, and from there, a group of goblins is emerging.

It's rare for them to come out of the forest, but perhaps the gathering of people has lured them out?

There are just over 20 of them… not quite 30.

The guards seem to have noticed as well and began to take action to handle it, but… that was a mistake.

Their movement seemed to agitate the goblins, causing them to start running towards the back of the line.

Some merchants have hired adventurers as escorts along the way, but… this doesn't look good.

"We're not going to make it in time… Teresa, what should we do?"

"Hmm. I'll handle it."

With that, she began to change her course.

"Teresa, you only have that knife, right? Will you be okay?"

Teresa's outfit is the standard female adventurer style—pants and a jacket. But she doesn't have much in terms of armor, and her only visible weapon is a small knife.

Though I doubt she'd lose to goblins, dealing with them with just one knife seems tough.

The people in line seem to have noticed the goblins too. There's no panic yet, but a murmur of concern is spreading. A few people have drawn their swords, but they don’t seem accustomed to using them—if anything, it's more dangerous for them.

"It's fine. Now then, please wait here, princess. …Wind!"

Teresa, standing at the front of the goblins, handed me control of the floating sphere, then leapt down and waved her arm, casting a spell. It was a magic spell that summoned a powerful gust of wind—one Elena often used for crowd control.

"Whoa!"

The people in line, shocked by Teresa’s sudden descent, were even more surprised when she unleashed her magic.

The goblins, only a few dozen meters from the end of the line, staggered under the spell’s force and came to a halt.

She didn’t stop after one blast—two, then three followed in quick succession.

From my higher vantage point, I could see it clearly. She wasn’t just hitting them head-on—she was carefully chipping away at the sides of the group, keeping them from scattering.

Her use of magic was impressive, but she wasn't killing them. Should I join the fight? I’ve picked up enough skills that I could help.

"…Huh?"

While I was debating, a low roar sounded from behind. I turned to see soldiers and adventurers, weapons in hand, closing in fast. The people in line were retreating towards the gate.

Ah, I see. Teresa was just buying time until they arrived. In that case, it doesn’t matter whether she only has a knife or not.

"Thanks for holding them off! We’ll take it from here!"

The lead soldier shouted as he dashed past Teresa and plunged into the goblins’ midst, swinging his spear without breaking stride. Two or three more followed, drawing attention away from the rest of the group.

Their armor wasn’t leather but sturdy metal, making the goblins’ attacks largely ineffective. Though their heavy equipment slowed them down, their defense was solid—they didn’t seem to mind being hit.

Once the goblins’ attention was focused on the soldiers, the adventurers moved in to strike from behind. The soldiers, who had only been fending off attacks until now, began to counterattack as well.

I raised our altitude a bit and scanned the area just in case, but I didn’t sense any other monsters.

This fight is over.

Teresa must have come to the same conclusion, as she was making her way back towards me.

"Nice work."

"Thank you. But all I did was fire off a few spells. It wasn’t anything special."

As she said, she wasn’t even sweating. Unlike me, who has to focus to cast even one spell… Teresa makes it seem effortless.
