Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 164
"Hmm-hmm..."
Eastern gate of the city of Rutor.
Several kilometers away lies the Great Forest, a demon realm, giving this place a unique tension filled with adventurers heading there and soldiers vigilant against monster attacks.
I'm humming to myself as I glide through the sky, my brush dancing across the canvas.
Though I'm supposedly indulging in my hobby of drawing, this is still considered work.
The city map wasn't available in the capital, but the magistrate's office surprisingly had fairly accurate ones.
Well, relatively accurate, that is...
Seriana found this unsatisfactory and asked me to sketch the city from above onto gridded paper.
Quite the demanding request...
Nevertheless, I must oblige since it's been ordered. I prepared the board used for sketching, attached a string to it, and activated both Akame's Eyes and [Fairy Sight] while diligently working on the map-making lately.
Though different from triangulation points, there are markers every 100 meters along the city walls visible from the inside, providing a fairly accurate basis for mapping.
My role is limited to sketching; the detailed finishing is left to the experts.
Thanks to that, while it may not be aerial photography, I should have a fairly accurate depiction of the city.
Finishing one sheet per day will take about two weeks.
Since I'm making them in 4x4 A4-sized sheets, once they're all assembled, it'll be quite a large map.
"Alright! Is this about it?"
Starting directly above the magistrate's residence to the southwest, today's task included the eastern gate, leaving only two sheets remaining.
This map-making process is nearing completion.
◇
At night, in Seriana's bedroom, I activate [Hideout].
"...Next is the district with the northeastern church."
Elena, who came to collect the map I finished sketching, pins it onto the panel on the table.
She pins them one by one, totaling sixteen sheets.
Once completed, they'll be framed.
Two more sets of two are being made, one set for Liesel.
The other set will be hung in Seriana's office.
Now, while Seriana gazes at the table map, her eyes shift to the empty space on the far right.
There are spaces for two more sheets.
That's the district with the church, northeast of here, beyond the eastern gate.
"Shall we go there tonight?"
Combining this map in progress with Seriana's skills allows for a fairly accurate understanding of the movements of friends and foes in this city.
She explained her skill while looking at the map, saying that with terrain information, she can even determine which floor someone is on in a building.
It's like a cheat code, isn't it?
Although her burden increases while using the skill, it's more important to completely seal off the opponent rather than for herself to move.
Considering that, it would be preferable to make it as accurate as possible…
"It's better to refrain."
It's stopped.
Of course, even at this point, she seems to have a rough understanding, but there are already individuals with hostile intentions towards Seriana in this city.
And they're gathering in the northeastern part of the city.
It's a district where the church, among other things, is located, inhabited by less affluent individuals.
However, even though Seriana knows this, it's not like she can capture those who haven't done anything yet.
As one becomes more prominent, there are more people who dislike or even hate them.
That's why, although surveillance is secretly being conducted, they're largely left alone.
Because of that, even aside from escaping from the orphanage, I don't really want to get too close to this place.
If those aiming for Seriana have already infiltrated the city, it wouldn't be strange if they also had my information.
There's no need to unnecessarily expose myself.
"Let's raise the altitude and start from a vacant spot. Apart from church-related facilities like orphanages or clinics, there aren't any large buildings, right?"
"That's right... I haven't really looked closely, but there are only two inns, I think? Nothing much has changed since I was here?"
In response to Seriana's question, I answer while rummaging through my memories.
Though there was some distance, from above, it seemed like no new facilities had been added.
"Shall we increase the patrols?"
"It's unnecessary. If we move carelessly, it might stoke the residents' anxiety by giving them a reason. Let's wait until the other side moves."
In response to Seriana's answer, Elena says nothing, perhaps having anticipated it.
I also thought the same thing.
The low esteem for the church is more than I expected, but…
"Well, let's not provoke them intentionally. Do you agree?"
"Yes."
I don't have confidence in combat skills, especially in face-to-face combat!
