Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 108
"Then, we ask for your continued support for our company."
With those words, the president of the company managed to leave the room somehow.
Whether it was the flowery language or the pompous words he used, I completely forgot his name as soon as I heard it.
Looking outside, dusk had already fallen.
Since Serianna returned from the academy today, guests have been pouring in to congratulate her, and now, it seems like we've finally reached the end of it all.
"There were quite a lot of guests today."
"Yes, indeed. But it seems the noteworthy ones are done for today. Tomorrow should be back to normal without any scheduled events."
"I see... Well, that's good."
Originally, Serianna was a candidate for engagement, and being of the same age and attending the academy in the capital, it was the perfect timing.
For those who were close to us, it was a predictable turn of events, so they acted promptly.
And those who couldn't move quickly enough tried to get closer by any means necessary.
It seems like it's been decades since a new territory with royal support has been opened up in this country, so it's only natural.
However, even with Father and Grandfather intervening and negotiating, there were still many who came.
We don't know the exact criteria, but they said they turned down quite a lot.
Still, the number... it shows the magnitude of their influence.
"You received quite a lot too."
"Yeah... I wonder what to do with all of this..."
Right.
It was Serianna's birthday as well, so she had brought various things along with her greetings. But for some reason, there were also gifts for me among them.
Certainly, our birthdays are close, but since I haven't disclosed mine, these are completely unrelated items.
"Perhaps they thought you'd be easier to approach than Elena or Alex, who are always surrounded by others. But it seems they were unsure what to give you... it's quite a mix."
The gifts received included paintings, gems, decorative items, and a sword. Among the unusual items was a large, or rather, long snake plushie.
"The painting must be from Mira. They probably heard about the incident in the Lude Kingdom. As for the gems, could they be related to the Shadow Sword or the Fairy's Eye? The Crimson Bee Needle is also a possibility. And the sword... perhaps because you're an adventurer?"
Serianna speculated, glancing towards Elena.
"The decorative sheath is a product of a famous workshop in the capital. It's not meant for actual combat, but it's popular for display purposes," Elena responded.
It was a sheath adorned with black and gold arabesque patterns. It did look somewhat cool, but was it really not suitable for combat?
"Try pulling it out," Serianna suggested.
"Wow..."
As instructed, I attempted to draw the sword from its sheath... but this was no good. It was so light that I could hold it with just one hand. Furthermore, when I finally managed to draw it, I found a finely polished blade adorned with intricate flower carvings. It was beautiful, yes, but certainly not practical for use.
"It looks like it could break even with your strength... Was there anything you liked?" Serianna inquired, observing the sword from the side.
Something I liked, huh...
"How about this? It might make a good pillow," I replied, selecting the snake plushie. It was about 1.5 meters long, and while I couldn't discern its contents, it was pleasantly soft. I hadn't used something like this even in my past life, but it seemed like it would make a perfect body pillow.
"I see. And what about the painting? Haven't you been collecting them?" Serianna asked.
In fact, since the commemoration festival, I've been collecting paintings, albeit ones worth less than a large silver coin.
The subjects varied from Mira to dragons and stories, often with a slight departure from tradition. Perhaps they might skyrocket in value someday, but I didn't expect that. What intrigued me was how they depicted a world I didn't know—a pure curiosity.
"Well, this one is... hmm," I hesitated.
"Yeah, I see..." Serianna nodded in understanding.
Wearing a white dress stained crimson with spattered blood, holding up a severed head, and surrounded by numerous corpses strewn about the ground. And yet, the setting isn't a battlefield but rather a party venue. Talk about a scene straight out of a horror movie.
Seriously, isn't this a bit too avant-garde?
"What on earth were they thinking when they decided to give this?" I muttered.
Seriously.
"I've heard that among adventurers, there are those who appreciate gruesome subjects, and perhaps they knew Serah collects slightly unconventional paintings?" Serianna suggested.
I thought they were going for a "this is what I'll do to you" kind of thing, but maybe they were trying to accommodate my taste, in their own twisted way. Well, regardless...
"This is just unacceptable!"
