Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 147

Since the first successful extermination of a group of ogres, we've been able to consistently defeat them using the same tactics.

If we only focused on efficiency, it would be better to continuously hunt kobold packs at the edges of the upper floors. However, with the unexpected usefulness of the umbrella I originally made as a shield and the fact that I can finally use magic, I often find myself engrossed in ogre hunting.

In one exploration, I only manage to defeat about twenty monsters at most, which is rather modest, but the sense of battle is intense.

"That's how it is!"

When I returned from the dungeon and was waiting to exchange relics, the branch chief approached me out of nowhere, suggesting it might be more efficient to hunt in the upper floors. I passionately explained my reasoning.

"I see..."

He seemed disappointed.

After the recent incident, a meeting concluded that the Adventurers' Guild's performance had no deficiencies. However, since there were fatalities, they plan to improve the training of newcomers. The implementation will start next year due to the lack of time to begin this year.

With the influx of new adventurers this January, they probably want me to stick around the upper floors, even though I've completed my duty. I understand their feelings, but floating around for an hour is a bit much.

"Well... just keep an eye out as you pass by, within reason."

"Sure thing."

Since he can't order me around, I suppose this is a compromise. It's not something I should agree to lightly, but it's not a big deal.

"Number XX, please."

My number was called at the counter.

"Oh? That's me."

"Alright then."

It seemed the appraisal was done, so I headed to the counter. I'm fairly well off, but the moment my efforts turn into cash still makes my heart race a bit.

How much did I earn this time?

"Good morning!"

I opened the heavy, thick door and entered the shop, which smelled of chemicals and iron, shouting loudly. Shelves with locked cabinets lined both sides, and there was a counter at the end, but no one was there.

"Are you in the back again...? Hey! Shopkeeper? Boss? Old man?"

As I walked through the shop, calling out, there was no response.

This is a tool shop attached to an alchemy workshop, favored by the Müller family, located in the commercial district, not the adventurer's district. Although I've never been inside, there's a workshop in the back. They mainly install and maintain magic device systems in noble mansions, and it's also where my umbrella was made.

For regular weapons, you'd go to a weapons shop in the adventurer's district. For umbrellas, you'd go to a high-end tool shop in the commercial district. However, since my umbrella is a unique one-off item, its maintenance is handled here.

"You don't have to shout; I can hear you."

Hearing my voice, the shopkeeper appeared from the back workshop, wearing a work apron.

"So, you're here for maintenance again?"

"That's right. I've been using it a lot recently. I won't be going into the dungeon for a while, so I'd like to ask you to take care of it."

I took the umbrella off my back, placed it on the counter, and showed it to the shopkeeper.

It looked and felt fine, but if it didn't work in a critical moment, I wouldn't die, but I'd be scared to death. I bring it in about once a week, but it's been just over a month since I bought it. It's time for an overhaul.

"I see..."

He examined the umbrella, opening and closing it, spinning it around.

"It looks well-maintained, but the threads are starting to fray, and the ribs are slightly bent. It's not a big deal, but it'll take about ten days. Do you still want to do it?"

"Yes, please. Do you need any materials?"

"No, we have what we need in the workshop. Taking it apart and reassembling it will cost you two gold coins."

...That's a steep price. Today's earnings will be gone.

"Okay."

Although it's expensive, that's the cost of craftsmanship. I took out two gold coins from my wallet and handed them over.

"Thanks. I'll deliver it to your mansion when it's ready. By the way, why aren't you going into the dungeon for a while?"

"Our Alexio is coming back. We're also starting preparations for our move."

Alex, who went to Lutul as a guard for Riesel, will be back in a day or two. Then we'll start preparing for our own move.

It's going to be busy for a while!
