Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 56

It’s already been four days since I woke up.

From what I heard from the two of them afterward, it seems I fell into a deep sleep in the dungeon, and then kept sleeping for a full day on top of that.

Alec and Luban handled the entire report to the Adventurer Guild for me.

Apparently there’s still more to do, and they’ve been camped out at the guild again today, but… the Demon-related stuff turned out to be a much bigger deal than I’d expected.

Alongside Demon King Type, a whole set of actions—subjugating the Demon itself, providing support, conducting investigations, and so on—gets properly evaluated, and depending on the case, it can even turn into talk about a peerage and the like.

A commoner shooting straight up into the nobility isn’t impossible—an adventurer’s dream.

That said, if people without the strength to back it up recklessly challenge one and get wiped out, only to increase the number of Demons and the dungeon maintenance costs, it would be a disaster. Because of that, each guild apparently restricts who can access a certain level of information, at its own discretion.

For reference, at the royal capital’s guild, the cutoff is people who can reliably explore the middle layers.

The reason I barely knew anything about Demons is probably because I simply wasn’t strong enough.

When Alec and the others charged at the Demon, I thought, You should just run—but Demons apparently have a habit of chasing nearby humans, so in the case of a sudden encounter on the upper levels, the rule is to move to immediate subjugation if you have a chance of winning.

Still, there’s a lot that’s unknown about Demons, and they said this one was unexpectedly strong. They told me more than once that things would have been dangerous if it had gone on as-is, and they thanked me a lot.

But no—that was not okay.

It’s too strong.

For now, I’m going to make sure I don’t get involved with Demons going forward.

The Demon business is enough.

It’s over.

More importantly!

Thanks to desperately taking down monsters left and right, I’ve got a huge haul of Holy Coins!

Fifteen of them.

With what I already had, that makes twenty-three.

Seriana said that since this time it would count as a Müller family achievement, it was fine for all of them to be mine.

I felt bad, so I gave her the three extra coins…

Even so, that’s still two pulls’ worth.

I drew magic steel once, but aside from that, I think they’ve basically all been big hits.

Well, it’s unfortunate that none of them are the ranged attack option I want, but even so, they’ve helped me a lot.

My gacha luck is pretty good, if you ask me!

I’m believing it’ll finally come soon.

"All right. Begin."

This time we’re doing it not in the old man’s office, but in Seriana’s room.

It seems that if you stack up 【Scarlet Bee Needle】 and then even a Demon subjugation on top of that, my position could get a bit… awkward.

Because I was carried out when we left the dungeon, it’s being treated as though I retired midway, but still participated in the fight enough to get injured—and survived.

Having strong retainers is a status symbol, but apparently it’s bad manners to bring too many warriors along in noble social settings.

Especially when there are foreigners present.

That’s why, normally, Seriana only takes Elena to the academy and doesn’t bring Alec.

Someone like me—who looks obviously weak, but can actually fight a bit, and even has a retreat option in 【Hideout】—is apparently valuable.

Wandering around the shallows, or forming a party and exploring the upper levels is one thing, but once it becomes a Demon subjugation, the weight shifts too far toward martial strength.

Since she doesn’t want any more evaluation than that, we’re doing this in this room, with extra precautions to make sure nothing leaks.

This makes the seventh gacha.

I don’t know whether the right answer is having no desire, having an empty mind, or firing myself up, but if I’m going to do it, I want to put my spirit into it and pull something good.

"Hngh!"

Holding ten Holy Coins in my hands, I pour my will into it and offer the Holy Coins to the holy statue.

At the same time the drumroll echoes, I put even more focus into it and will it to stop.

"...?"

The word that appears is Magic Wood.

And floating in front of me is a piece of timber about a meter long.

Before it can drift away weightlessly, I take it in my hands and set it on the floor.

"What’s Magic Wood?"

"Magic Wood is used as a magical focus, like for staffs and amulets, and it’s also used as a material for magic tools and the like. At that size, it’s about enough for two staffs, I’d say."

…A material, huh.

That’s a dud.

Next, next!

Come on—give me a ranged attack option!
