Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 53

Now then, it looks like Sera’s treatment is still going to take some time, so what should we do?

There’s no sign of monsters nearby, and surely a second Demon won’t show up.

Do we wait until she wakes up, or do we head back?

"Alec, Marida, you two stay here and protect them. Minea, you can move again, right? We’ll take care of disposing of the monsters Sera took down. If she’s awake by then, no problem. If not, we’ll carry her."

While I was still hesitating, Luban settled the course of action.

That decisiveness.

As expected of someone with a title.

"Got it. Leave it to us."

Once they answered, the two of them ran off toward where Sera had been fighting.

From the look of it, Minea’s injuries must not be an issue either.

I recall the fight with the Demon from just a moment ago.

Stamina and strength—both were on par with a high-class youma breed, and on top of that, it was wrapped in even sturdier arms and armor, and it had skill to match.

Even so, we managed to find a pattern. I acted as bait to create an opening, Luban’s magic shattered the ground under its feet, and we succeeded in collapsing that spot with Minea’s one strike, empowered by her blessing, forcing it down onto one knee.

But then Minea, who went in for the finishing blow, ate a counter, and instead, we were gradually driven into a corner while lacking a decisive finishing move.

I never expected its upper body to twist 180 degrees.

It’s not exactly that I let my guard down, but it was naïve of me to think of it as a living creature in the same sense as other monsters.

Of course, if we’d managed to regroup, we could’ve kept fighting, but considering Sera’s condition, 【Prayer】 would have run out before long, and things might have fallen apart anyway.

I hadn’t accounted for her stamina.

We should have pulled her out immediately and asked the Adventurer Guild for reinforcements.

"...Alec!"

"Hm? Ah—yeah… what is it?"

At some point, Marida had come up close.

Reflecting is fine, but I can’t let it distract me and make me lax about watching the surroundings.

The fact I’m making mistakes I normally wouldn’t… seems I’m not calm yet either.

"Kiira’s checking her, so she’ll be fine. More importantly—this."

When I look behind her, the shield and club the Demon used are lying there.

Its body and armor vanished, but those two remained.

Given that they deflected even Minea’s strike and Luban’s magic without so much as a scratch, they’re probably made of high-purity magic steel.

The club is shaped like an inverted triangular pyramid with something like a hand guard, about a meter long.

It’s heavy, and looks usable against both people and monsters.

The shield is a huge tower shield—about the height of a child—like the ones imperial heavy infantry carry.

It didn’t seem that odd when the large Demon was holding it, but seeing it again like this, it’s big.

"Your mace got snapped when Minea broke it, so why not just take that?"

"Mine was magic-steel alloy, too… I didn’t think it would break. Still, this is proof of the Demon subjugation, so we should submit it to the Adventurer Guild."

Since I’d been focusing on the shield and wouldn’t be using it, I’d handed over my mace for its striking power—but when it clashed with that club, it didn’t shatter, yet it still snapped clean through.

No way…? Even in the middle of the fight, I couldn’t help going blank for a second.

"A Demon, huh… The three of you have been on a subjugation party before, but this was my first time. I didn’t think it would be that bad…"

"It was much stronger than the one we fought before. Maybe because this is the royal capital dungeon?"

Kiira answered Marida’s complaint.

Had she finished the treatment?

"It’s done. There aren’t any wounds left, but she doesn’t look like she’ll be waking up yet, so let’s keep her asleep like this."

Maybe she noticed where I was looking—she told us Sera’s condition.

"I see. Then the question is how we carry her. 【Floating Orb】 is fairly heavy too… hmm?"

I could tell the two who went to deal with the monsters were coming back.

They’re carrying something big—an artifact?

"We took care of it. And over here… she’s still not awake, huh."

"Yeah. More importantly, is that an elk antler?"

I couldn’t tell from a distance, but up close it looks like some kind of antler.

On this floor, the only monster that drops something like that is the elk.

If that’s the case, then we’ve achieved the objective of this expedition too.

"We really can’t thank her enough… All right, what do we do? There aren’t any monsters right now, so I want to start moving—can you go?"

"Yeah. I’ll carry the Demon’s relics. If I strap the shield on too, I can manage. But what about Sera? We’ve also got 【Floating Orb】, so we need two people."

"Right. Kiira, carry her. That 【Floating Orb】—Marida takes it. Minea goes in front. Alec, stay with them. I’ll take the middle."

At Luban’s instructions, the three of them nod.

I’m fine with it too.

"All right. Let’s head back, quickly."
