Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 43

It’s already mid-February, and spring is approaching fast.

The weather is pleasantly warm.

Many trade caravans from foreign countries are coming in, and the streets are bustling with people, filling the royal capital with energy.

In previous years around this time, I’d be too busy dealing with new children entering the orphanage or sorting things out for those who had left, and never had the leisure to feel the change of seasons—but it’s quite nice.

The recent issue with the Undead has settled down, and I’ve started diving into the dungeon again. Not just Holy Coins, but my cash on hand has been steadily increasing too.

I can now freely move around the city using the 【Floating Orb】, so maybe it’s time to try checking out some street stalls?

Humming a little tune, I entered the guild in high spirits.

Maybe I’m a bit too relaxed, but today isn’t about exploring—just a simple errand.

It’s okay once in a while.

"What the hell!?"

"I have a proper permit, don’t I!?"

A bit further inside is the reception counter.

Past that is the staircase leading to the dungeon entrance below.

There’s another reception downstairs, and although you occasionally see rugged adventurers arguing with the staff down there, it’s usually about disassembly procedures or priority order, and things settle quickly.

This area, used for requests and applications, isn’t the kind of place where arguments typically break out.

I’ve only been coming here for about a month, but I’ve never seen a scene like that.

And yet, today seems to be the very first time.

As I greeted some familiar adventurers and approached the counter, I saw about ten kids.

They were wearing proper equipment, but they looked to be around 12 or 13 years old.

Since the minimum age to qualify for exploration is 14, they probably didn’t quite meet the requirement.

Is that what the commotion is about?

"I told you no means no! I’ll kill you little brats!!"

They had been holding their ground for a while, but the guild staff member finally snapped and yelled.

That guy’s the head of this reception department or something—basically an executive.

He’s a big shot.

The fact that these kids were holding out against someone like him is kind of impressive, but…

"Move it already! You’re getting in the way of others!!"

He glanced toward me as he tried to shoo them away.

The kids looked in my direction too, following his gaze…

"What the hell! He’s even younger than us! Why are we the ones being rejected!?"

And now they were even more fired up.

"Shut it! That guy’s on a noble’s errand! Don’t mess with him! Hey, you—get inside. We’ll talk there!"

"…Okay."

I kind of felt like I was being used as a pretext, but I didn’t feel like discussing anything out here anyway, so I decided to go along with it.

Ignoring the kids glaring at me, I headed inside.

I entered through a door beside the reception counter and walked down a hallway with doors on both sides for about ten meters before reaching the room at the far end.

I knew it was used for business meetings and such, but it was my first time going in.

Inside, it felt like a typical guest room—kind of like a consultation room in a bank.

The man who had gone in before me flopped down onto the sofa with a thud.

"Phew… They just wouldn’t give up. Sorry about that."

"It’s fine. Besides, I’m not here to explore today—just running an errand."

Saying that, I handed him the letter and documents.

"Huh? So it really was just that. Alright, let me see."

I had been briefed on the contents.

They needed monster hides and relics like horns and claws, all obtainable from the upper levels.

Since they needed a large quantity, they decided to request it from the guild rather than relying on Alec or me.

"Hmm… Maybe they’re planning to upgrade some gear? Looks like they’re going to need quite a bit..."

"Not sure about the details, but I heard the 'Fangs of Laguola' are coming to our side, so they’re reorganizing the pioneering village or something?"

The truth is, it's to integrate them into Seriana’s new territory—but that’s still off the record.

I made up something that sounded plausible to cover it.

"Ah… Yeah, those guys are being taken away, after all…"

He muttered weakly, leaning back into the sofa.

"What’s up? You sound worn out."

We normally just exchange greetings—I’ve never had a real conversation with him. I wonder if something happened?

I haven’t heard of any incidents in the dungeon, but…?
