 After I started diving into the royal capital dungeon alone, the first thing I prioritized was deciding on a hunting ground.

Just before the shallows were the Giant Centipedes.

Deeper inside, while it was possible to defeat the enemies, their numbers were too great, and solo hunting there was a bit too dangerous.

I wandered around thinking there really weren’t any good spots… until I found it—one of the outermost passageways that connected to the upper layers.

It was a slightly open area, and the monsters that appeared there were massive bulls, about the size of a small elephant.

I saw other adventurers fighting them. They were few in number, but strong and fast. While they lacked agility, they had enough stamina to match their massive size—formidable opponents indeed.

Since it was a roundabout route to the upper layers, it didn’t seem popular, and there were hardly any people around.

Perfect for me.

So, I started frequenting the place for a while.

The pace was slower due to the fewer number of monsters, but I could steadily collect Holy Coins without worrying about others around me.

“Mm!?”

I had reached my target amount and was cheerfully heading back when, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a flash of light I’d never seen before.

Something felt off, and I lowered my altitude—and then the ceiling exploded. At the same time, a sharp pain shot through my left shoulder, throwing off the balance of the 【Floating Orb】 significantly.

“Ugh!?”

As I gritted my teeth through the pain and struggled to regain my balance, a second sharp pain tore through my thigh, and I fell to the ground along with the 【Floating Orb】.

“Geh!?”

My shoulder was charred, my thigh gouged by an arrow and bleeding profusely, creating a pool of blood on the ground.

And there I lay, collapsed.

At first, I didn’t know what had happened, but seeing the blood and feeling the pain, I finally understood—I’d been attacked.

That first thing must have been magic…

“Are… are you okay!?”

“Do I look okay to you…?”

I managed to respond to the men's voices.

“I-I’ll heal you right away! Don’t worry, just leave it to me!”

I couldn’t see them clearly, but from the frantic voices and all the shuffling around, I could tell they were panicking.

At least it seemed like they were going to treat me.

The injuries were no joke, but in this world, healing—especially for wounds and poison, though not necessarily illness—is incredibly effective, thanks to magic and other means.

I wasn’t going to die from this.

But I know the truth!

Undead.

Zombies, driven purely by instinct, attack living beings after magical essence inhabits a corpse.

Wraiths, unlike zombies, possess intelligence due to their souls mingling with magical essence.

They indiscriminately attack living beings—whether humans, animals, or monsters.

They’re powerful creatures that can’t be effectively fought with regular weapons. You need magic, gacha-generated gear, or magic tools to stand a real chance.

Because corpses disappear inside dungeons, Undead don’t appear there. They only exist outside—in cursed lands, battlefields, or, rarely, in slums.

When I first heard about them, my initial thought was: So souls are actually real…

However, recently, Undead have started appearing in the shallows of the royal capital dungeon.

They move through the air at astonishing speed, harvesting the lives of monsters wherever they go.

Reportedly small and black in appearance, they haven’t harmed any humans yet—but the fact that they’re in a place they normally wouldn’t be suggests it might be a so-called boss monster. If left alone, it might grow into something far more dangerous, so apparently a subjugation team is being formed, and an investigation is underway.

I was warned at the reception to be careful—especially because I dive solo.

Even Sera and Elena sternly warned me when they heard about the Undead.

…Never imagined they were actually talking about me.

After that incident, I received emergency first aid. Since I was near the exit, I was able to get proper treatment from the guild almost immediately.

As expected of the adventurer’s guild in the royal capital.

It’s huge, and even has a branch of the infirmary inside. Thanks to how quickly I was treated, I didn’t even have any scars left.

Fantasy really is insane…

My 【Floating Orb】 was retrieved too, so aside from my clothes being torn to shreds, everything is pretty much back to normal.

Now the only thing left is what to do with these pale-faced old guys…
