"You… Wh-What is this⁉"

Seeing the five Holy Coins in my hand, the two of them wore stunned expressions.

Of course, of course.
Be even more surprised.
I wasn’t just screaming in fear at the centipede, you know.
I was scared of the bats too.

To escape the centipede, I had ascended nearly to the ceiling, and just when I thought I was safe, a swarm of bats suddenly attacked out of nowhere.

They were about the size of crows with their wings spread—maybe 20 or so of them.

Thankfully, they weren’t very fast, so I could easily slice them clean in half by swinging the 【Shadow Sword】.

There were a lot of them, but it was a flawless victory.

"So there were Giant Bats…"

"Giant Bats? That’s what they’re called?"

What a disappointing name.

"Well, there’s really no better way to describe them than just ‘big bats’… Still, they’re pretty tough since they come from above and don’t give off any presence. You did well."

【Prayer】 had been activated, and I think it boosts not just strength, but overall physical ability.

Like kinetic vision and reflexes too.

This kid’s body hasn’t been dulled by exposure to TVs or video games, so her eyesight isn’t degraded.
Even so, tracking that many bats in motion would’ve been impossible.

If it was just healing and strength enhancement, it wouldn’t have benefited me much—but this makes it plenty useful.

"Heh! That was nothing!"

With a roar, Alec raised his 【Red Shield】 to block the charge of a boar the size of a cow.

Then, two more boars came charging in from behind.

Even with the effect of 【Prayer】, this was pushing it. What are they going to do?

"Sera! Get the one in front of Alec!"

Just as I turned to Elena for instructions, she gave them.

Without hesitation, Elena extended her 【Green Fang】 like a whip and struck the lead boar hard on the head to drive it back.

The boar staggered from the impact—seems like it did some damage.

This must be my cue to act.

"Haah!"

I dove down from above and drove the 【Shadow Sword】 straight into its head.

Dungeon monsters with cores have a red, tumor-like bulge on their heads.
The core is supposed to be directly in line with that.

I managed to strike it cleanly!

"Alright, next! Aim for the one on the right!"

Alec must have realized the first boar was dead, even from behind his shield.
Without waiting, he braced himself and charged at the boar on the right.

"Sei!"

Since it had stopped moving, I used the same method—one clean blow.

The core shattered, and the second one went down.

As for the third… I turned to the left and saw Alec was already slashing at it.

…How can he charge head-on at something that big?

I left the last one to them and flew upward to keep watch on the surroundings.

We’re in the deeper part of the shallows.

Even though it’s still considered the shallows, the monsters here are much stronger than those near the entrance.

They only appear in groups of a few, but the spawn rate is high, and they can appear nearby mid-fight and attack suddenly.

Because of that, when there’s only one left, I don’t join the fight—I stand guard.

I scanned the area—no monsters in sight!

Looking down, I saw Elena had pierced its throat.

Battle over.

"Nice work~"

I called out as I descended to where the two of them were.

"Yeah. You too. Any monsters nearby?"

"There were some fighting beyond the wall, but nothing around here."

"Hmm… We’re just scouting today anyway. Let’s head back. Elena, that okay with you?"

"Yes. Even though we can use the 【Hideout】, it’s best to conserve our strength."

Elena, who had been handling the boars’ remains, joined the conversation.

"Aren’t we going to take a break…?"

"No need. Are you tired, Sera?"

"No, I’m fine…"

Personally, I think it’d be smarter to sneak around using the 【Hideout】, but people in this world are oddly secretive about their skills, even if they’re fine with using items.

Either that, or they make a big show of them.

Still, they keep it secret even in a dungeon where no one else is around?

…Tough crowd.

 As I sighed and raised the Holy Coin, a sudden drum roll began to play. And then—the reel started spinning at an incredible speed. Before me were the director’s desk, a statue of a goddess or something behind it, and the wall. I instinctively rubbed both my eyes, but nothing changed.
