Gather Divine Coins and Gacha! - Chapter 11

8 Holy Coins.

Converted into gold coins, that’s 160 coins.

"Give me all of that…"

I was so shocked by this demand that I couldn’t hide my surprise and froze in place.

This is almost all of my wealth, you know?

"Hey."

"You ran away from the orphanage, right? If that’s the case, your official record is tied to the church, so it’ll be tough wherever you go."

Seeing me freeze, the big brother began explaining.

When a child is taken in by an orphanage, they are affiliated with the church, and even nobles and lords are required to hand them over if asked.

Surprisingly, or rather, as expected, the record management is quite thorough. While not everything requires proof, a lot of regular jobs or housing demand this confirmation.

Of course, adventurers can’t avoid this.

If they can’t prove it, they just drop out.

That’s pretty strict… even though I was desperate, I hadn’t thought things through very well.

"That’s how it is. If you agree to the deal, I’ll take care of everything for you."

"Understood… please help me."

8 Holy Coins are painful, but considering it as a reset, it shouldn’t be too bad! Let’s think of it that way.

"Alright. Well… maybe we should stay hidden in that 【Hideout】 for another two days?"

"Huh? That’s fine, but…?"

"At night, leave this place and head to the infirmary. I plan to visit there in two days. I’ll pick you up then, so stay hidden until then. Can you do that?"

What’s an infirmary…? Isn’t that different from the church’s clinic?

"What’s an infirmary?"

"It’s a white building on the high ground by the western pond. Do you know it?"

"Ah, I know that one."

When I flew above the city the other night, I couldn’t make out the details of the buildings due to the darkness, but that one stood out because it was on a high ground and white. I thought it looked like a hospital, and it turns out it really is one.

"You’re 8 years old, right? Just in case, I want to change your name. Do you have any objections?"

A name…?

Now that I think about it, there were 5 or 6 people with the same name… I was usually called things like ‘hey’ or ‘you.’

Did they just pick a name at random?

"I don’t mind."

I don’t mind.

"Alright. Then, I’ll have a word with Father. Elena, please take care of him. Let’s go, Alec."

She said this and left the room with the big brother in tow.

She’s a quick talker, huh… It’s nice that she’s efficient, but still.

Nighttime.

I had already left the mansion and entered the infirmary, hiding near the carriage stop as usual.

After a while, the blonde, whose name is Seriana Müller Zelkis, returned to the room.

The name, family name, and territory name are listed, so she’s the daughter of Count Müller, part of the Zelkis noble family.

She’s 14… and so mature.

This infirmary is operated by the lord, and visits or inspections of it are the duty of the noble family.

Two days from now, she’ll visit and find a child wandering around alone.

When she talked to him, it turned out he was originally from this town. However, his family had disappeared for some reason, leaving him alone.

At his wits’ end, he snuck into the large building, and Seriana, who was there for an inspection, found him.

After hearing his story, she felt sorry for him and decided to take him in.

That’s the gist of it.

It’s somewhat, no, very forceful, but as long as there’s a reason to take in an orphan, that’s all that matters.

It boosts her image, and she can also show that the orphanage and the church aren’t doing their jobs properly.

Two birds with one stone.

She’s already talked to her father, the lord, and forged my official records.

Recently, a couple who fled the town because of debt was killed by monsters, and they’re going to be presented as my missing parents.

Using the deceased like this does make me feel a little guilty, but this is the kind of world we live in.

I’ll just have to accept it.

I’m officially a servant of Seriana, but it seems like I’ll be in the same position as those two. It looks like I’ll have quite a bit of freedom.

I still don’t know what she’s thinking, but well, I don’t think things will turn out badly.
